Meet the Group

Matthew Bird
University of Strathclyde student currently studying for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, to graduate in summer 2020. Has diverse experience in subjects including Advanced Fluid Mechanics, Control Systems Design, and Engineering Composite Materials. Familiarity with such programmes as ANSYS Workbench, Fluent, MATLAB, SolidWorks and STAR-CCM+. Vice-President and Team Captain roles in Strathclyde's Karting Society. Has taken on responsible leadership roles while supervising at various Gaelic music and environmental awareness events.

Frank French
In the final year of an integrated master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. Has completed the previous four years with distinction, acquiring theoretical knowledge and technical skills throughout the degree. Internship in the automotive sector and first-hand experience with livestock and heavy-machinery. A friendly person with great interpersonal skills and always willing to take the initiative.

Rhys Houston
In the fifth and final year at the University of Strathclyde studying for a Mechanical Engineering degree. An enthusiastic learner with extensive experience in computer aided design (CAD) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and varied knowledge in topics such as composite materials and thermodynamics. A keen tennis player and team work skills are prominent in both University assignments and football.

Highly enthusiastic about Mechanical, Aeronautical and Renewable Engineering. Key achievements are working for engineering firms in the automotive sector, and co-founding the Strathclyde Renewables Society in 2018. Studying MEng Aero-Mechanical Engineering at Strathclyde University in my 5th and final year.
